Setting and Achieving Goals in the New Year

2026 is here – can you believe it?
With the arrival of a new year often comes that hopeful urge to make this one better. So, we turn to New Year’s resolutions - setting goals, dreaming big, and promising ourselves we’ll stick with it this time... at least for the first few weeks.

But what if this year, we did things a little differently?

Turn Resolutions Into Reality

Instead of diving into the year with vague hopes, why not back your resolutions with a plan?

One of the best places to start is with your existing habits, they’re a treasure trove of insight. They tell us when we work best, what keeps us motivated, and what kind of support systems we need to thrive.

Strategies That Stick

Many people swear by SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound) to keep themselves on track.

Others prefer techniques like the Pomodoro method, breaking tasks into short, focused bursts with regular breaks.

Whichever tool you choose, make sure to also think about:

·      When you feel most productive

·      Why this goal matters to you

·      What to do when motivation dips - because it will

Having a plan for those ‘meh’ moments can be the difference between giving up and pushing through.

Make Progress, Not Perfection

By tuning into ourselves and getting strategic, we’re more likely to follow through and make those changes stick. Remember: progress is better than perfection, and even small steps forward count.

Here’s to a year of meaningful goals and steady growth. You’ve got this, 2026!
